Webinar: The Basics of Self-Editing by Anne Nerison

#Webinar: The Basics of Self-Editing by Anne Nerison #PromoDay2017

Webinar: The Basics of Self-Editing

Presenter: Anne Nerison

About the webinar:

In this webinar, I'll be discussing some tips writers can use for self-editing. Not only does editing let you dig deeper into your story and make it stronger, but it can save you money when it comes time to hire an editor. We'll talk about some of the basics, like punctuation, spelling, and dialogue, as well as some bigger issues, such as backstory and plot holes (and much more). We'll also tie this in to what readers expect from books, and what editors expect when they're handed a manuscript. After this webinar, you'll come away with ideas on how to make your manuscript stand out from the rest.

“Language is a fluid lifeform. To assume that because we once learned grammar one way, that way will always be accepted is fallacious. To neglect researching the language we write in when we so assiduously research the facts for what we write is folly.” ~ Quote from The Frugal Editor

There are gremlins out there determined to keep your work from being published, your book from being promoted. Resolved to embarrass you before the gatekeepers who can turn the key of success for you, they lurk in your subconscious and the depths of your computer programs. Whether you are a new or experienced author, The Frugal Editor will help you present whistle-clean copy (from a one-page cover letter to your entire manuscript) to those who have the power to say “yea” or “nay.”

The Frugal Editor: Do-It-Yourself Editing Secrets for Authors is a complete course of instruction under one cover.” ~ Midwest Book Review

“Absolutely essential for beginning writers and a necessary reminder for the more advanced. The mentor you've been looking for.  This book won't collect dust!” ~ Christina Francine, review for Fjords Review

“Using the basic computer and editing tricks from The Frugal Editor, authors can prevent headaches and save themselves time—and even money—during the editing process. It’s well worth your effort to learn them.” ~ Barbara McNichol, Barbara McNichol Editorial

“Writers and editors have a true friend in Carolyn Howard-Johnson. Her word smarts, her publishing savvy, and her sincere commitment to authors and editors make The Frugal Editor a must-have resource.” ~ June Casagrande, author of The Best Punctuation Book, Period and Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies (Penguin) and syndicated grammar columnist

Pitch Sessions With Champagne Book Group (CBG)

Pitch Sessions With Champagne Book Group (CBG) #PromoDay2017

Every year during the Promo Day event, a group of publishers take part in pitch sessions. These publishers are on the look out for talented authors with the right manuscript.

How the pitch sessions work:

1) Participating publishers post their submission guidelines to the event forums.
2) Registered Promo Day attendees can then send them their pitch.
3) The publishers send back a reply THE SAME DAY. That's right, no waiting weeks, months, or even years for a reply. They let you know during the event if they are interested or not.
4) If the publisher is interested they will then guide you through the next steps in the process.

Champagne Book Group (CBG):

Champagne Book Group (CBG) is one of the publishers taking pitches during the 2017 event on Saturday 6th May.

About CBG:

Champagne Book Group (CBG) has been open and publishing electronic fiction since 2004. Its origins began as a Canadian publisher.
Now under a new owner, CBG is a United States publisher with the goal and vision to deliver to readers quality books crafted with care and infused with passion that transport readers into imagination.
CBG authors write stories that transport readers to other worlds, to the past, to the future, lets them enjoy romance, find love, discover what it’s like to be a Bond or Bourne and ride in a spaceship as it zips through the stars.
We are primarily a digital publisher; however, books over 70,000 go into print within three (3) months after the digital release. We are a royalty-paying publisher.
At this time, we are not looking at manuscripts under 20,000 words unless we are doing a special call or looking for stories for an anthology.

Champagne Books has many lines that relate to the types of Champagne available for drinking. Check out the submissions guidelines.
